Backstedt claims silver in world championship time trial

- Britain's Zoe Backstedt, 21, won silver in the women's time trial at the UCI World Road Championships in Montreal.
- Switzerland's Marlen Reusser, the defending champion, won gold by 40.11 seconds on her 35th birthday.
- Backstedt finished 5.43 seconds faster than Germany's Franziska Koch, who took bronze.
